Ian McKinlay, the founder, has worked on many different breeds of horses. He has learned that most of the common ailments are found throughout all the breeds. He also discovered that most of these ailments are caused by the same situations, regardless of the breed.
Ian's journey in hoof care began in 1977 in Ontario, Canada. He worked under his father for many years prior to moving to the United States in 1980. The techniques used by Ian to repair quarter cracks were developed by James McKinlay in 1965. Over the years, better products have been implimented but the basic technique of lacing cracks has not changed.
In 1996 Ian started to glue on shoes which began his quest to develop a shoe that not only absorbs shock due to concussion, but also support the bulbs and allow expanison of the heels.
Ian currently lives in New Jersey and works at all of the major race tracks and equine farms in the north east of America. He is always searching for ways to improve the methods in use today.
